So, like I do everyday, I have been sitting here pondering the bigger things in life. Today, my focus is on what I have to offer a child. What will my legacy be? I suppose the major one will be that I love Jesus and I hope to show my child what a beautiful relationship that can be. But, after that, I am kind of stuck. I am a little nervous to have a kid spend their life digging around in my brain. Most of the time, my thoughts don’t make sense to me. What is a child going to think? For instance, today I have a few songs stuck in my head. No, not normal “I just heard it on the radio” kinds of songs, but more like… the chorus from Elvira (The Oak Ridge Boys) “Giddy Up Oom Poppa Omm Poppa Mow Mow.” Okay, so I am weird. That stuff doesn’t get passed on, does it? What about my crazy love for 80’s music? Or, the fact that I think Eminem is hilarious and brilliant not crazy (not that I will ever let my child listen to that…). Maybe, if, and only if, my child is really lucky, someday I will demonstrate how to really do the “Humpty Dance” correctly. Of course that depends on whether or not my child ends up with my extraordinary gift of rhythm or not. I wonder if my kids will grow up appreciating my tastes or thinking I am on old fuddy-duddy. Hopefully, I will be able to pass down my love for British humor though. Nothing beats a good Monty Python movie, although Death at a Funeral came pretty darn close. Man, I hope that my kids will understand my sense of humor. I love to mess with people, well and dogs too. Because of their innocent nature and helplessness, they will have to understand that I will be messing with them….. a lot! Do you think that a kid will find it as funny as I do when I tell them “Oh, where did you hear that? That is nonsense. Of course the boogeyman exists. If you don’t go to bed soon, I will go get him for you.”?
This could be a very interesting experience….
